Right now, the most popular fraudulent activity is people jumping on your WhatsApp or facebook account, hacking them out and starting to defraud your friends. Some of the time you try to get back the account as much as possible, you’ll end up not being able to do so because every login information on your account was easy to alter. I’ll show you in this article how to protect your social account details
The most annoying part of Account hacking is that in the presence of your people, the hacker will end up painting your image in black. As soon as they hack your account, they’re going to start sending your friends a DM telling them about an investment you need to invest like 20k to get 40k in 2h. The reason they’ve chosen to hack people’s accounts is that they believe your Facebook or Whatsapp friends are going to trust you enough to buy any idea you bring before them. Some of them will update posts on your profile talking about how and all that they’ve been paid for investing in the business. Then it’s what they’re doing to persuade you. When they have hacked into the database, they will add up their people so that as soon as the hacker update the post, those added friends will start commenting how they got paid from the investment. If an external person drop any comment suggesting that, he/she knows they are scammers, they will delete such comment and block the person.
In order to avoid your account from being hacked, I have decided to show you what to do: first we start from WhatsApp.
How to protect your WhatsApp account from being hacked:
To protect your WhatsApp account from being hacked, simply do the following;
• When you login to your WhatsApp, click on the three dots at the top right corner (Menu bar) for the drop down menu.
• When the drop down menu drops, click on setting
• When it loads, click on Account
• Select Two-Factor-Authentication and activate it. You will be asked to create password which you need to confirm, do it and your account is now secured. Anytime anyone want to login to your account, they will request for the password you created.
How to protect your Facebook account from being hacked.
There are many ways to protect your Facebook account, but on this blog we shall be focusing on two Methods.
1. Trusted contacts
Trusted contacts is a Facebook service that helps users retrieve their account in the event it is hacked. If you activate your trusted contacts, even if somebody is hacking your account and changing every detail there, you can still retrieve it back. Trusted connections are an outlet where you are free to connect up to five of your trusted Facebook friends to your account. When you add these trusted friends you just tell them to generate code from their Facebook for you if your account is hacked. To be able to access the account again, you must enter certain codes on your account retrieval tab.
I want you to remember something here, the maximum number of friends that you can add is 5 while the minimum is 3. I’m going to consider using 3 Mates, because of the difficulty of meeting them when the time comes. Don’t add anyone whose account isn’t secured to your trusted contacts because if that person’s account is compromised along the way, you won’t get the code from him / her and if the 3 codes aren’t correct, Facebook won’t get your account back for you. Incase some of their accounts are compromised along the way, remove the person on your trusted contacts list quickly.
How to activate Facebook trusted contacts
Login to your Facebook account.
Click on the 3 dots at the top right corner (Menu bar)
When it drops down, navigate to “settings” and click
Navigate to “Security and login” and click to open
Navigate to “Choose 3 to 5 friends to contact if you get locked out and click to open
If your password is needed, enter your Facebook password and you’ll be taken to the app where you need to enter your trusted friends. Everything you have to do is use the search column and type the exact name of the friend you want to add when the name appears click on it. Note: sometimes facebook may inform you that the name doesn’t exist even though you’re 100 % right with the name; don’t worry, if you trust that friend, you can search manually by browsing pages to pages. When you see the tag, it’s cool and it’s added. Remove the other 2 and then submit. That’s it, go to the Facebook account recovery page if your account is compromised, they will ask you to enter a name from your account trusted contacts; once you enter it correctly, they will all display. Make your request from there and contact those people to login to their account and send you the code on their notification.
It is a perfect way of keeping any thieve from stealing your account. Facebook can log you out of all other browsers when you enable it, so you can log in again. If it is disabled, whoever tries to log into your account will give you login code to facebook. (Just like OTP Bank). They can not log in without that code. And if you want to login from a new computer yourself, you need to enter the code in order to sign in.
How to activate Two-Factor-Authentication
Login to your Facebook account.
✓ click on the 3 dots at the top right corner (Menu bar)
✓ When it drops down, navigate to “settings” and click
✓ Navigate to “Security and login” and click to open
✓ Navigate to “Use Two-Factor-Authentication and click.
✓ It will require for your password. Enter your Facebook password, navigate to “Use Text Messages” and click to open.
✓ It will take you to where you need to confirm your phone number. Confirm it and submit.
✓ Facebook will send you a verification code to be sure you are the owner of that number. Enter the code and submit. It’s done. Two-Factor-Authentication is now ON. Anyone that attempt to login to your account, you will be notified.
I will recommend you to also turn on the app notification option above the “Use Two-Factor-Authentication” so that you can be notified on Facebook if any one attempt to login to your account. Is your authy codes not working? See our how to fix it here.
You may want to login from a new computer often, and Facebook may allow you to enter the code sent to you but the code will not arrive. If you wait 1 minute for the code and it hasn’t come, click on “Log in Trouble?” and select the option that says “Send me the code via SMS.” They’ll give it right away.
We hope this has aid you to secure your account.
