Change Snapchat To Dark Mode. In the last few years, both Android and iOS have broadly introduced dark mode to users. Almost every app except Snapchat has implemented this accessibility feature over the years. Yeah, you heard right, Snapchat has never had a dark mode until now, and if you use Snapchat a lot, you will finally reduce the pressure on your eyes. Let’s take a quick look at the features.
Snapchat Dark mode availability
Snapchat recently released an update to its iOS app that gives the latest dark mode feature inside Snapchat access to a select few users. At present, this feature is being beta tested and appears to be a server-side allowance. It should be open to all users once it is rolled out to the public in the next few days.
If Dark Mode is not available to you right now, do not worry, as once it is widely released to the public, you will be able to use it soon. But if you have it, or if you already have it, then here’s how on your Snapchat app you can activate or disable Dark Mode. You can definitely disable it in the app settings if you don’t want your Snapchat to go dark.
How to enable dark mode in Snapchat (get Black UI)
For this to work, you will need the new Snapchat update installed on your iPhone. Hence, before continuing with the guide, we suggest upgrading your app to the latest edition.
Open Snapchat, and in the top left corner of your phone, tap on your profile photo. Now, to access your settings, tap on the ‘Gear’ icon on the top right. Scroll down to ‘Device Appearance’ and select. Pick ‘Always Dark’ to use your Snapchat app’s dark UI only. Pick ‘Match System’ to automatically allow dark UI when the system UI of your computer changes to dark UI as per the system settings.
Here’s what each of the three options mean:
- Always Light: This will hold the white UI of Snapchat at all times, regardless of the theme of your system.
- Always Dark: This choice triggers the black UI indefinitely and changes to your machine theme will not affect it.
- Match System: This choice will fit the current theme of your unit. This means that when your computer uses the light theme, Snapchat can use the light mode and when your device uses the dark theme, the dark mode.
Simply tap and choose the option that fits your needs best and you can automatically apply the changes.
How to schedule dark mode on Snapchat
You may want to schedule it depending on the time of day, now that you have a dark mode for Snapchat. This will help to automate theme modifications and decrease eye strain automatically when you decide to use Snapchat extensively. You can still use your device settings to do so, although Snapchat does not give you the option to schedule its dark mode.
Note: Snapchat’s dark mode scheduling will schedule your entire iPhone’s dark mode.
1. Enable “System match” for Snapchat
In order to fit the default theme of your device, we first need Snapchat. To make the requisite alterations, follow the guide below.
Open Snapchat, and in the top left corner of your phone, tap your profile icon. Now, in the top right corner, press on the ‘Gear’ button. Scroll down to the segment on ‘App Presence.’ Now tap and pick ‘Machine Match’. You are now ready to schedule your phone for dark mode.
2. Schedule Dark mode
Open Settings on your iPhone and tap on ‘Display & Brightness’.
Enable the toggle for ‘Automatic’ in the Appearance section at the top.
Now tap on ‘Options’.
Select the schedule that best suits your needs.
Sunset to Sunrise: IOS will allow dark mode automatically based on every day’s sunset timings and will disable it based on sunrise timings. Based on your existing set venue, these timings will be sourced from the weather app.
Custom Schedule: This choice allows you to specify your own time period from which you want Snapchat to activate dark mode.
Tap ‘Back’ in the top left corner to save your modifications once you have set your schedule. The back gesture can also be used on your iOS device, too.
And it is that! Dark Mode for your iOS system should now be scheduled!
What about dark mode for Snapchat on Android?
Ok, this is where, as usual with Snapchat, things get a little more complicated. The feature seems to be inaccessible to all Android users in most regions, according to all the recent user reports. Does this mean that there won’t be a dark mode for Android? That is extremely unlikely, but after the feature has been released to all iOS users, you should expect a delayed launch for Android.
Until releasing it for all platforms across all continents, Snapchat is possibly checking this new feature for bugs. On Android, if you’ve been waiting for Snapchat Dark Mode, then it looks like you’re going to have to wait a little longer than other iOS users.
How to disable dark mode on Snapchat completely
Well, just pick the option “Always Light” from the App Appearance menu. Follow the dark mode guide at the top, but pick the option of “Always Light” to retain the white UI in your Snapchat app.
We hope you have used the above guide to take full advantage of the latest dark mode feature in Snapchat. If you face any problems or have any more questions for us, feel free to use the comments below to reach out.
