Easy Steps to Send Texts to Android Devices from Mac
Both of us have become accustomed to typing and texting on smaller screens over the last decade. To be sure, it’s easy, but it’s not always very fun. The ease of typing on larger devices remains unmatched, which is the primary reason why many are still searching for the feature to submit texts from their PCs.
Today, we will discuss the problem at hand, and help you send text messages from your Mac to Android devices.
How to text Android devices from Mac using iMessage
The native messaging apps for supported Apple devices are iMessage, for those who are unaware. Of course, Macs are not designed for cellular communication, but for one special purpose, they also come with the iMessage app,’ Continuity.’ Thanks to this magical feature, you can perform most of the tasks, including texting, that your phone can perform, from the comfort of your Mac.
When it’s switched on, the iMessage app on your Mac gets all the messages you have on your computer. You can view conversations in their entirety, submit new texts, and respond to existing ones. What’s better is that you can even send messages to Android devices very quickly, because there are no limitations. All you need to do is toggle on the forwarding of texts, and you’re good to go.
First, make sure you’re using the same Apple ID on your phone and PC before turning on the forwarding of messages on your iPhone. A mismatch would break the whole operation here. Now, go to Settings on your iPhone and select ‘Messages.’
Then tap on ‘Text Message Forwarding.’
The list of devices currently flaunting your Apple ID, the one you are using on your computer, can be seen here. With some luck, you’ll also be seeing your Mac on that list. Ensure that the knob is switched on.
How to text Android devices from Mac using Messages for Web
We addressed how you could easily text Android users from your Mac in the previous section. However, you have to get an iPhone and have it connected to your Mac to get the desired results using iMessage; there’s no way around it. So, though texting via iMessage remains a legitimate and solid option for some, if you don’t own an Apple smartphone, it’s not really helpful.
Thankfully, there’s also a solution for this specific problem. If you have an iOS or Android system, one that doesn’t discriminate. For several users out there, Google’s Messages has become an exceptional messaging service, and its consistency is not only reserved for mobile devices. Similar to WhatsApp Site, you can easily connect your smartphone and computer from your Mac via Google Messages and text.
Next, make sure that on your Android smartphone you have the Google Message app downloaded.
Linking is done by a QR Code. The code will be displayed on the Messages website and you will need to check it on the Google Messages app via the pre-loaded QR code scanner.
To scan, tap the top-right corner of your Google Messages app on the vertical ellipsis button and go to ‘Web Messages.”
Now, simply tap on ‘QR code scanner’ and scan the code displayed on the Web client.
All the conversations on your phone will also show up on the web client after you’ve scanned the QR code.
You will be wise to ask Google Messages to recall your machine if you wish to text regularly from your Mac.
Note that to make the service work as planned, you’ll need to keep your mobile linked to the internet. Google Messages for the Site will also stop working when the link decreases.
