After its grand release in 2010, Instagram has seen its user base soar, quite dramatically. In the last decade, several services have been launched, but very few have managed to keep up with Instagram’s clean and aesthetic allure.
The two most critical aspects of the Instagram app are clean visuals and ease of use. And while we are generally pleased with the way the service works, there are still a few minor caveats that need a little effort.
We’re looking at one such slight annoyance today, which has left many users scratching their heads. Now, let ‘s start clearing up your search history on Instagram without further ado.
How to clear individual searches on Instagram?
Instagram claims to be a straightforward framework and thus provides a easy solution to your questions about privacy. You don’t have to go through the trouble of deleting your entire history if you’ve done a few searches that you’re not especially proud of, as you can just delete the individual searches.
To do so, first, tap on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of your screen — next to the ‘+’ icon. Now, tap on the ‘Search’ bar.
Here, you will see some of your latest searches. Now, if you want to delete a few of these entries, you’ll need to press the cross button on the right-hand side of the name of the Insta account.
Once you do, the entries would be immediately removed from your search panel.
How to delete all searches from the Instagram app?
If it isn’t cut by undoing individual searches, or your list of regrets is just too long, you might easily delete the entire history and start again. That way, during the cleaning trip, you won’t have to worry about missing a specific entry.
Both software, iOS and Android, are similar in this regard. So, you can follow our two-in-one guide in a heartbeat to remove your Instagram search queries.
Tap the Instagram app icon first and, if you haven’t already, log in to your profile. Now, tap the bottom-right corner of your profile picture.
The tap would take you to your profile page. Then, tap on the hamburger menu — three vertical dashes — at the top-right corner. The side panel would reveal the ‘Settings’ icon. Tap on it.
Once you’re in the ‘Settings’ menu, tap on ‘Security.’
Now, on Android, tap on ‘Search History’ — ‘Clear Search History’ on iOS.
Finally, ‘Clear All’ and confirm to delete your search history for good.
How to delete all searches from Instagram web?
You’ll need to do it a bit differently if you’re on a PC or a web browser and want to get rid of your search history. As always, the first move is to log in to your Instagram account. Click / tap on your profile picture in the top-right corner once you’re in. Click on ‘Settings’ once a small drop-down menu appears, denoted by a little gear icon.
Now, on the right-hand panel, click on ‘Privacy and Security’. Like the app, the page won’t give you immediate access to search history info, which means there is an extra step involved. Tap on the hyperlink ‘View Account Info’ under ‘Account Data.’
This page houses all Instagram data linked with your account. Now, under ‘Account Activity,’ locate ‘Search activity,’ and click on ‘View all.’
Finally, click on ‘Clear search history’ and confirm.
Will Instagram stop recommending the accounts you removed from your search?
Fortunately, Instagram won’t forget your interests if you delete the entries. So, every time you check for anything connected with the accounts, their names will show up in the Instagram recommendation system. You’ll need to block them on Instagram if you want to stop getting their tips altogether.
