Since its founding, Google has been preaching data protection and privacy. And while many bash Google for not practicing what it preaches, some reassurances and peace of mind can certainly be achieved by us. Google’s new VPN-Virtual Private Network-service promises exactly that.
It’s still early days and there is a lot to learn about the service, but in Google’s new offering we can definitely see promise. So let’s learn more about the VPN service for Google One with that thought in mind.
What is Google One?
Google One is Google’s paid cloud storage service, which comes into play when users are depleted by the initial 15 GB, which is provided free of charge to all Google users. Via Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Images, this storage is shared. So, if you have a bunch of high-quality images on Google Photos and a few more on Drive, you might need to upgrade sooner than later to a paid Google One kit.
Google One currently provides three choices: 100 GB, 200 GB, or 2 TB for various user sets. Normal users can easily be supported by the first two plans, while the third one addresses more specialized content creators and developers.
What is VPN by Google One?
As the name suggests, Google One’s VPN is Google’s proprietary VPN service that is strongly connected to its subscription plan for Google One, costing $10 (or more). The VPN service is the first attempt by Google to create a stable tunnel, but it is not open to those outside the ecosystem of Google One.
So at least for the time being only premium Google One users can access the VPN, and so at the time of writing, only Android users in the US can access it.
Google One VPN Availability
As the name suggests, Google’s newly introduced VPN service is profoundly related to the Google One subscription. Both paying users of Google One however, won’t be able to use the VPN service. Only those with or above the 2 TB plan are given the benefit of using the first-ever VPN from Google. So, you won’t be able to enjoy the benefits of the VPN service unless you are either using the 2 TB plan or are planning on upgrading.
Only users who have subscribed to the 2 TB plan will have access to Google VPN. That doesn’t mean, however that the VPN service is open to all users around the globe. The service is coming to the United States first, as per Google, and is not available anywhere else. Fortunately, Google has ensured that it will ultimately distribute the service to other regions.
Is Google One VPN available for iPhone?
Additionally and more interestingly, the VPN service is only reserved for Android devices. So, if you’re on iOS or any other system, you won’t have the privilege of using Google One.
How much does Google One VPN cost?
If you’re flaunting a 2 TB plan on Google One you’d be glad to know that you’d be able to use the latest VPN service for free. No extra costs, no secret clauses, all you need to enjoy the newly introduced VPN service is a 2 TB Google One subscription. That being said in the United States, the 2 TB subscription plan comes in at $9.99/month, which isn’t accessible for all consumers.
How does Google One VPN work?
Google’s VPN service is bound to ruffle some feathers, since it is the first direct declaration of war against current VPN leaders by Google. Fortunately for them the service remains exclusive to Google One systems only and will not be available for purchase outside of the 2 TB subscription plans.
Google has confirmed that the VPN network will make use of Google’s industry-leading network infrastructure when it comes to working philosophy. The tech giant promises break-neck speeds at all times and outstanding connectivity.
Can you share Google One VPN?
Google has always been a huge fan of family sharing, and it is awesome to see the trend now spreading to the VPN service of Google One. You might very easily do so if you have a 2 TB plan and want to share it with your family members.
On all Android devices, all you have to do is download the Google One app, six, maximum, and activate the service, one by one. The Google One VPN service should operate just as expected if you don’t surpass the cap and log in with the right credentials.
Will Google One VPN be private?
The single most important factor behind opting for a VPN link is privacy. Nevertheless, since the service provider itself is the promotional champion, questions are expected to creep in. Google itself is conscious of the absence of trust and has promised to be as open as possible.
The business claims that it will not use the information you transmit through the VPN to “track, register, or sell” your browsing activity. In addition, there will also be no logging of bandwidth usage, link timestamps, DNS, and IP. Finally, from 2021, the end-to-end processes will also be audited separately, technically omitting the risk of fraud or deception.

How to get Google One VPN?

How to turn on Google One VPN
